Warm Baked Apple Fritters 🍏

Ingredients You’ll Need

Makes 8–10 fritters

 

For the Fritters:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 medium apple , peeled, cored, and diced into small pieces (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
 

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
 

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) . Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
 

Step 2: Make the Batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples gently.
 

Step 3: Shape the Fritters

  1. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of batter per fritter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Use your fingers or a spoon to shape them into rough rounds.
 

Step 4: Bake

  1. Bake for 12–15 minutes , or until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
 

Step 5: Make the Glaze

  1. While the fritters bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the milk for a thicker or thinner glaze, depending on your preference.
 

Step 6: Glaze & Serve

  1. Once the fritters are out of the oven, let them cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze generously over the top of each fritter.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy the cozy goodness!
