Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream 🍊🍦

Creamy vanilla meets fresh orange in a frozen swirl of sunshine!

πŸ“ Ingredients (Makes about 1.5 quarts):

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 3–4 oranges)

  • Zest of 1 orange

  • 1/2 cup orange soda (optional, for extra citrusy fizz and sweetness)

🍦 Instructions:

  1. Mix the base
In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. Add flavor
Stir in the vanilla extract, freshly squeezed orange juice, and orange zest. If using orange soda, add it now and mix gently to avoid fizz overflow.

  3. Chill
Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours, or until it’s thoroughly chilled. For best results, chill overnight.

  4. Churn
Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20–25 minutes), until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  5. Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Smooth the top, cover, and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

  6. Serve
Scoop and enjoy! Serve in a cone or bowl, or even between vanilla cookies for an ice cream sandwich twist.

✨ Tips & Variations:

  • Want stronger orange flavor? Add 1/2 tsp orange extract.

  • For a swirled look, add a ribbon of orange marmalade or orange curd before freezing.

  • No ice cream maker? Freeze the mixture in a shallow dish, stirring every 30 minutes for 2–3 hours.
