Crispy Beef and Potato Patties – Golden, Flavorful, and Addictively Good!

Ingredients:

  • 350g ground beef

  • 2 potatoes

  • 100g onion

  • 3 tablespoons fried shallots

  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

  • 1 tablespoon chopped scallions

  • 2 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs

10g seasoning mix (MSG, curry powder, dry coating powder, seasoning granules)

Tips for Choosing Good Potatoes:

  • Choose potatoes with a yellow skin for better flavor and more nutrients.

  • Avoid sprouted or green-skinned potatoes, as they can be harmful to health.

  • Look for firm, smooth-skinned potatoes without bruises or strange spots.

  • Skip any potatoes with deep cuts or dents to ensure freshness.


Instructions:

1️⃣ Prepare the ingredients:

  • Potatoes: Peel and cut into small pieces, steam for 15–20 minutes until soft, then mash.
    (Tip: Soak peeled potatoes in water mixed with a bit of vinegar or lemon to prevent browning.)

  • Onion: Finely chop. Sauté with 2 teaspoons of oil, season with 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon MSG, and ½ teaspoon seasoning powder. Cook until translucent and fragrant, then set aside to cool.

2️⃣ Marinate the filling:

  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, ground beef, cilantro, scallions, ½ teaspoon curry powder, 2 tablespoons panko, and 1 tablespoon fried shallots.

  • Chill the mixture in the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up for easier shaping.

3️⃣ Shape the patties:

  • Take a small portion of the filling, roll it into a ball, and lightly flatten it into a patty.

  • Coat each patty with dry coating powder for an extra crispy crust.

4️⃣ Fry to golden perfection:

  • Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, fry the patties over medium heat until golden and crispy on both sides.

  • Drain on paper towels.

(Tip: Mix chili sauce, yellow mustard, and mayonnaise for a delicious dipping sauce!)

5️⃣ Final result:

Each patty comes out crispy on the outside, soft and moist inside, blending the rich flavor of beef with the creamy sweetness of potatoes. Paired with the creamy dipping sauce, these beef and potato patties are simply irresistible!
