Step 2: Cook the steak

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Sear the steak for 3–4 minutes per side (medium-rare to medium), depending on thickness.

  3. Transfer to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes.

  4. Slice the steak thinly against the grain.

Step 3: Cook the shrimp

  1. In the same pan, reduce heat to medium.

  2. Add butter and minced garlic; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes.

  4. Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.

  5. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and remove from heat.

Step 4: Toast the bread

  1. Slice the rolls lengthwise.

  2. Spread lightly with butter.

  3. Toast cut-side down in a pan or oven until golden and crisp.

Step 5: Assemble the sandwich

  1. Spread optional sauce (aioli or mayonnaise) on the bottom of each roll.

  2. Layer sliced steak evenly.

  3. Top with garlic shrimp.

  4. Add cheese if using and briefly melt under a broiler.

  5. Close with the top roll.

Serve

  • Serve immediately while hot.

  • Pair with fries, salad, or roasted vegetables.

Tips

  • Always slice steak against the grain for tenderness.

  • Do not overcook shrimp; they turn rubbery quickly.

  • A squeeze of lemon over the shrimp adds brightness.
