
Oat and Strawberry Agua Fresca

1 liter of cold water

1 cup rolled oats

Ice (to taste)

2 cups fresh strawberries (washed and hulled)

1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste; can substitute with honey or sweetener)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Juice of 1 lemon (optional, for a fresh touch)

Blend the oats and water:
In a blender, combine the rolled oats with the cold water. Blend for about 30 seconds until the oats break down. -
Strain (optional for a smoother texture):
Pour the oat mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove any solids. -
Blend the strawberries:
In the same blender (no need to wash it), add the strawberries, sugar (or honey), vanilla extract (if using), and lemon juice (if using). Blend until smooth. -
Combine everything:
Pour the strawberry mixture into the pitcher with the strained oat water. Stir well to combine. -
Adjust sweetness:
Taste and add more sugar, honey, or sweetener if needed. -
Serve:
Add plenty of ice to glasses. Pour the agua fresca over the ice and serve immediately. -
Optional garnish:
You can add strawberry slices or mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
