Oat and Strawberry Agua Fresca


βœ“ Ingredients:

  • 1 liter of cold water

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • Ice (to taste)

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (washed and hulled)

  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste; can substitute with honey or sweetener)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • Juice of 1 lemon (optional, for a fresh touch)

  1. Blend the oats and water:
    In a blender, combine the rolled oats with the cold water. Blend for about 30 seconds until the oats break down.

  2. Strain (optional for a smoother texture):
    Pour the oat mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove any solids.

  3. Blend the strawberries:
    In the same blender (no need to wash it), add the strawberries, sugar (or honey), vanilla extract (if using), and lemon juice (if using). Blend until smooth.

  4. Combine everything:
    Pour the strawberry mixture into the pitcher with the strained oat water. Stir well to combine.

  5. Adjust sweetness:
    Taste and add more sugar, honey, or sweetener if needed.

  6. Serve:
    Add plenty of ice to glasses. Pour the agua fresca over the ice and serve immediately.

  7. Optional garnish:
    You can add strawberry slices or mint leaves for a refreshing touch.

  • If you like a more rustic texture, you can skip straining the oats.

  • For a creamier version, add a splash of almond milk or coconut milk.

  • Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving for an even fresher flavor.
