Crispy Onion Rings
Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the Onion Rings:

2 large onions
-
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking powder
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
-
1 egg
-
1 cup (240ml) milk
-
1–1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crispiness)
-
Oil for deep frying
For the Dipping Sauce (Optional):
-
½ cup mayonnaise
-
1 tablespoon ketchup
-
1 teaspoon mustard
-
½ teaspoon garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Onions

Peel onions and slice into ½-inch thick rings.
-
Separate the rings and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Batter
-
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.
-
In another bowl, whisk egg and milk together.
-
Place breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
Step 3: Coat the Rings
-
Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture.
-
Then dip into the egg mixture.
-
Finally coat with breadcrumbs.
-
Press gently so crumbs stick well.
Step 4: Fry
-
Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
-
Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 5: Serve
-
Mix all dipping sauce ingredients in a bowl.

Serve onion rings hot with the sauce.
Tips for Extra Crispy Rings

Chill coated rings for 15–20 minutes before frying.

Do not overcrowd the pan.
-
Use panko breadcrumbs for crunchier texture.
