Classic Moist Banana Bread

Ingredients (1 loaf – 9x5 inch pan)

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted

  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Optional Topping:

  • 1 banana, sliced

  • Extra walnuts


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease or line a 9x5 inch loaf pan.


Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth.

  2. Add melted butter and mix well.

  3. Stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.


Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients

  1. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

  2. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture.

  3. Stir just until combined (do not overmix).

  4. Fold in walnuts if using.


Step 4: Bake

  1. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

  2. Top with banana slices and walnuts.

  3. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.


Step 5: Cool

Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.


Tips for Extra Moist Banana Bread

  • Use very ripe bananas (dark spots are best).

  • Replace half the butter with vegetable oil for extra moisture.

  • Add 2 tablespoons sour cream or Greek yogurt for softer texture.
