Honey Toast Dessert (Japanese Brick Toast)

Ingredients

Bread Base

  • 1 thick loaf of milk bread or brioche

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp sugar

Filling

  • Soft bread cubes (from inside the loaf)

  • 1 tbsp butter for toasting

Toppings

  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream

  • ½ cup whipped cream

  • Fresh strawberries, sliced

  • Fresh blackberries

  • Honey drizzle

  • wafer rolls or biscuit sticks (optional)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread Box

  1. Cut the top off the loaf.

  2. Carefully hollow out the inside, leaving a 2–3 cm thick shell.

  3. Cut the removed bread into bite-size cubes.


2. Toast the Bread Cubes

  1. Melt butter in a pan.

  2. Add bread cubes and sprinkle with sugar.

  3. Toast until golden and crispy.


3. Toast the Bread Box

  1. Brush the inside and outside of the bread shell with butter and honey.

  2. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes until crisp.


4. Assemble

  1. Fill the toasted bread box with the crispy bread cubes.

  2. Add whipped cream.

  3. Place vanilla ice cream scoops on top.

  4. Add strawberries and blackberries.

  5. Drizzle honey generously.


5. Garnish

Add:

  • wafer sticks

  • extra berries

  • more whipped cream if desired.


Result:
A crispy outside, soft buttery inside dessert with cold ice cream, fresh fruit, and sweet honey — perfect for sharing.
