Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with Fresh Vegetables
Ingredients
For the Tuna
-
2 fresh ahi tuna steaks (about 170–200 g each)
-
1 tbsp sesame seeds
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp olive oil
Salad Base
-
2 cups mixed salad greens (arugula, spinach, or baby lettuce)
-
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
-
½ yellow tomato, sliced
-
¼ red onion, thinly sliced
-
½ green apple, thinly sliced
-
¼ cup microgreens or sprouts
-
1 soft boiled egg, halved
-
1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
Citrus Dressing
-
3 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tbsp orange juice
-
1 tsp honey
-
1 tsp Dijon mustard
-
½ tsp salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions

1. Prepare the Dressing
In a small bowl whisk together:
-
olive oil
-
lemon juice
-
orange juice
-
honey
-
Dijon mustard
-
salt and pepper
Mix until smooth and emulsified. Set aside.
2. Season the Tuna
-
Pat tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
-
Season with salt and pepper.
-
Coat the outside with sesame seeds.
3. Sear the Tuna
-
Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat.
-
Sear tuna for 30–45 seconds per side (for rare center).
-
Remove and let rest for 2 minutes.
Slice the tuna into thin pieces.
4. Assemble the Salad
On a large plate or bowl:
-
Add mixed greens as the base.
-
Arrange tomatoes, apple slices, and red onion.
-
Place the sliced seared tuna on top.
-
Add soft-boiled egg halves.
-
Sprinkle microgreens and sesame seeds.
5. Finish the Dish
-
Drizzle citrus dressing over the salad.
-
Add a little extra olive oil and black pepper if desired.

A fresh restaurant-style seared tuna salad with tender rare tuna, crisp vegetables, and a bright citrus dressing.
