Crispy Fried Cream Cheese Wontons

Ingredients
Filling

225 g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
-
2 green onions, finely chopped
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp sugar
-
½ tsp soy sauce (optional)
Wrappers
-
24 wonton wrappers
-
1 egg + 1 tbsp water (egg wash for sealing)
For Frying
-
Vegetable oil for deep frying
Garnish & Dipping Sauce
-
Chopped green onions
-
Sesame seeds
-
Sweet chili sauce or soy sauce
Instructions

Step 1 – Make the Filling
In a bowl, mix:
-
Cream cheese
-
Green onions
-
Garlic powder
-
Salt
-
Sugar
-
Soy sauce
Stir until smooth and creamy.
Step 2 – Fill the Wontons
-
Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface.
-
Add 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
-
Brush edges with egg wash.
-
Fold corners together to form a purse/star shape (as in the photo).
-
Press tightly to seal.
Repeat until all are done.
Step 3 – Fry the Wontons
-
Heat oil to 175°C / 350°F.
-
Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 4 – Serve
-
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
-
Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
Tips for Perfect Wontons
-
Do not overfill or they may burst.
-
Seal edges well to prevent leaking.
-
Fry in small batches for even crispiness.
