Shrimp Lo Mein (Stir-Fried Noodles)

Ingredients

Noodles

  • 250 g egg noodles (or lo mein noodles)

Shrimp

  • 250 g shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Vegetables

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 carrot, julienned

  • ½ cup bean sprouts (optional)

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp water

Cooking

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil


Instructions

1. Cook the Noodles

Cook noodles according to package instructions.

Drain and rinse quickly with cold water to stop cooking.

Set aside.


2. Cook the Shrimp

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink.

Remove and set aside.


3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables

Add remaining oil to the pan.

Cook:

  • garlic

  • mushrooms

  • carrots

Stir-fry 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.


4. Combine Everything

Add noodles to the wok.

Pour in the sauce mixture.

Toss well so the noodles absorb the sauce.

Add cooked shrimp and stir 1–2 minutes until heated through.


5. Garnish and Serve

Top with:

  • green onions

  • sesame seeds (optional)

Serve hot.
