Steak & Shrimp Garlic Butter Pasta

Description

This surf-and-turf pasta combines juicy seared steak, tender garlic butter shrimp, and spaghetti tossed with vegetables in a rich, savory garlic butter sauce. Bold flavors, restaurant-style presentation, and super satisfying.


Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

For the Steak

  • 300–400 g (10–14 oz) beef steak (sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • Optional: fresh thyme or rosemary


For the Shrimp

  • 300 g (10 oz) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste


For the Pasta

  • 250 g (9 oz) spaghetti

  • Salt for boiling water


For the Sauce & Veggies

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 cups fresh spinach

  • ½ cup (120 ml) reserved pasta water

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

  2. Cook spaghetti until al dente according to package instructions.

  3. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain pasta and set aside.


Step 2: Cook the Steak

  1. Pat steak dry and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat.

  3. Sear steak for:

    • 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare

    • 4–5 minutes per side for medium

  4. Add butter and herbs, baste steak for 30 seconds.

  5. Remove from pan, rest for 5 minutes, then cut into cubes.


Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

  1. In the same pan, add olive oil.

  2. Season shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Cook shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.

  4. Remove shrimp and set aside.


Step 4: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. Lower heat to medium.

  2. Add butter and minced garlic to the pan.

  3. Sauté for 30–45 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Add chili flakes (if using) and bell pepper, cook 2 minutes.

  5. Stir in spinach and cook until just wilted.


Step 5: Combine Everything

  1. Add cooked pasta to the pan.

  2. Pour in reserved pasta water and toss to coat.

  3. Add Parmesan cheese and mix until glossy.

  4. Return shrimp and steak to the pan.

  5. Toss gently for 1–2 minutes until everything is heated through.

  6. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.


Serving

  • Serve hot.

  • Garnish with extra Parmesan and chopped parsley.

  • Optional squeeze of lemon for freshness.
