Sautéed Mushroom and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets 🥦

  • 1 ½ cups mushrooms, sliced 🍄

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter 🧈

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced 🧄

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) 🥢

  • ½ tsp black pepper ⚫

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional) 🌶️

  • 1 tsp sesame oil 🌿

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for extra umami) 🍶

  • 1 tbsp water (if needed, for quick steaming)


Instructions:

  1. Prep veggies: Wash and cut broccoli into small florets. Slice mushrooms evenly. Mince garlic.

  2. Heat oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.

  3. Sauté garlic: Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Cook mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and turn golden brown.

  5. Add broccoli: Toss in broccoli florets and stir well. If the pan gets too dry, add 1 tablespoon of water to help steam the broccoli a bit.

  6. Season: Add soy sauce (or tamari), oyster sauce (if using), black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir-fry for another 3–4 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.

  7. Finish with flavor: Drizzle with sesame oil just before removing from heat.

  8. Serve hot as a side dish or light main meal with rice, noodles, or on its own.


Tips:

  • For extra protein, toss in some tofu, shrimp, or chicken!

  • Don’t overcook the broccoli — you want it vibrant and a little crunchy.

  • Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or chopped green onions for extra flavor.
