Ingredients

For the Pulled Pork

  • 3 lbs (1.4 kg) pork shoulder

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

For Assembly

  • 12 slider buns

  • 2 jalapeños, sliced

  • Fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Extra BBQ sauce for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Season the Pork

  1. Pat the pork shoulder dry.

  2. Mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and brown sugar.

  3. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the pork.

Step 2: Sear the Pork

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Sear the pork on all sides until deeply browned, about 2–3 minutes per side.

Step 3: Slow Cook

  1. Transfer the pork to a slow cooker.

  2. In a bowl, combine BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce.

  3. Pour the mixture over the pork.

  4. Cover and cook:

    • Low: 8–10 hours

    • High: 5–6 hours

  5. The pork should be fork-tender and easily shredded.

Step 4: Shred the Pork

  1. Remove the pork from the slow cooker.

  2. Shred using two forks.

  3. Return the shredded pork to the sauce and mix well.

Step 5: Assemble the Sliders

  1. Lightly toast the slider buns.

  2. Pile a generous amount of pulled pork onto the bottom bun.

  3. Top with BBQ sauce.

  4. Add sliced jalapeños.

  5. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

  6. Place the top bun on and serve.
