Spicy Garlic Butter Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 500 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 5–6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1–2 red chili peppers, sliced (adjust to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for extra heat)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Juice of 1 lime or lemon

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or cilantro, finely chopped


Instructions

Step 1: Season the Shrimp

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

Step 2: Heat the Pan

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt completely.

Step 3: Cook the Aromatics

Add minced garlic and sliced chili peppers to the pan. Sauté for about 30–45 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 4: Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until the shrimp turn pink, opaque, and slightly caramelized. Do not overcook.

Sprinkle in chili flakes if using.

Step 5: Finish the Dish

Squeeze fresh lime or lemon juice over the shrimp. Toss gently to coat everything in the garlic butter sauce. Remove from heat.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro before serving.
