Shrimp and Sausage Pasta 🍀🌭🍝

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb penne pasta (or your favorite pasta)

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 smoked sausages, sliced (or use Andouille for a spicier flavor)

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 medium onion, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing)

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

🍝 Cook the Pasta:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

  2. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.

  3. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

🍀 Cook the Shrimp and Sausage:

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat.

  2. Season the shrimp with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Sauté shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil.

  5. Add the sliced sausages and cook until browned on both sides (about 5 minutes). Remove and set aside with the shrimp.

πŸ₯˜ Cook the Vegetables:

  1. Add sliced onions and bell peppers to the same skillet.

  2. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.

  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

πŸ§€ Make the Creamy Sauce:

  1. Lower the heat to medium-low.

  2. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine with the vegetables.

  3. Add mozzarella and Parmesan cheese gradually, stirring until melted and creamy.

  4. Season with cayenne pepper (if using) and adjust salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.

πŸ”₯ Bring it All Together:

  1. Add cooked pasta into the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.

  2. Gently fold in the shrimp and sausage.

  3. Heat through for 2–3 minutes until everything is warmed.

πŸŽ€ Garnish and Serve:

  • Top with fresh parsley.

  • Optionally sprinkle more Parmesan cheese on top.

  • Serve hot!

πŸ“Œ Tips:

  • Want extra flavor? Add a few shakes of Cajun seasoning!

  • Substitute the mozzarella with Monterey Jack or pepper jack for more spice.

  • Works great with fettuccine, linguine, or rotini too!
