Garlic Butter Shrimp and Broccoli

Ingredients

Main

  • 450 g (1 lb) shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced (optional)

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

Other

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 2 tbsp water or chicken broth

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)

Garnish

  • chopped green onions

  • sesame seeds


Instructions

1. Prepare the Broccoli

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.

  2. Add broccoli and blanch for 1–2 minutes until bright green.

  3. Drain and set aside.


2. Cook the Shrimp

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  2. Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink.

  3. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.


3. Cook the Garlic Sauce

In the same pan:

  1. Melt butter.

  2. Add garlic and ginger.

  3. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.


4. Make the Sauce

Add:

  • soy sauce

  • oyster sauce

  • honey

  • sesame oil

  • chili flakes

Stir well.

If you want a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water and add to the pan.


5. Combine Everything

  1. Return shrimp to the pan.

  2. Add broccoli.

  3. Toss everything together and cook 2–3 minutes until coated in sauce.


6. Serve

Serve hot over:

  • steamed rice, or

  • noodles.

Top with:

  • green onions

  • sesame seeds.
