Strawberry French Toast with Cream

Serves

Ingredients

French Toast

  • 6 slices thick white bread or brioche

  • 2 large eggs

  • 120 ml (½ cup) whole milk

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)

  • 1 pinch salt

  • Butter, for frying


Cream Filling

  • 200 ml (¾ cup) heavy whipping cream

  • 1½ tbsp powdered sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract


Strawberry Layer

  • 250 g (9 oz) fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 1–2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)


Topping

  • Fresh strawberries

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

  • Maple syrup or strawberry sauce (optional)

1. Prepare the Strawberries

  1. Toss sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.

  2. Let sit for 10–15 minutes until juicy.

  3. Lightly mash a few pieces if you want more sauce.


2. Make the Cream

  1. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  2. Keep chilled until ready to use.


3. Make the French Toast

  1. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

  2. Dip each bread slice into the mixture, coating both sides (do not soak too long).

  3. Heat butter in a pan over medium heat.

  4. Fry bread until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.

  5. Set aside and keep warm.


4. Assemble

  1. Place one slice of French toast on a plate.

  2. Spread whipped cream on top.

  3. Add strawberries and sauce.

  4. Repeat layers (2–3 layers total).

  5. Finish with strawberries on top.


5. Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar

  • Drizzle with maple syrup or extra strawberry sauce

  • Serve immediately while warm


Tips

  • Brioche or milk bread gives the best texture

  • Add mascarpone to the cream for a richer filling

  • Can be served as brunch, dessert, or café-style menu item
