Description

This dish is a classic Western-style one-pan meal that combines juicy pan-seared shrimp, browned sausage medallions, and tender-crisp broccoli florets, all coated in a savory garlic-butter glaze. It’s fast, protein-rich, and perfect for a weeknight dinner while still feeling restaurant-quality.

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

Main Ingredients

  • 300 g (10–11 oz) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 200 g (7 oz) smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into thick rounds

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Aromatics & Seasoning

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

Optional Flavor Boosters

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or white wine

  • 1 tsp honey or brown sugar (for balance)

  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Ingredients

  • Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels. This ensures good searing.

  • Season shrimp lightly with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

  • Slice the sausage into 1.5–2 cm (½–¾ inch) thick pieces.

  • Cut broccoli into bite-sized florets.

2. Cook the Sausage

  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add sausage slices in a single layer.

  • Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until deeply browned.

  • Remove sausage from the pan and set aside. Leave the rendered fat in the skillet.

3. Cook the Shrimp

  • Add ½ tablespoon olive oil if the pan is dry.

  • Add shrimp in one layer.

  • Cook 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and lightly caramelized.

  • Remove shrimp and set aside with the sausage.

4. Cook the Broccoli

  • Lower heat to medium.

  • Add remaining ½ tablespoon olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter.

  • Add garlic and sauté for 20–30 seconds until fragrant (do not burn).

  • Add broccoli florets and season lightly with salt and pepper.

  • Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes, until bright green and just tender.

    • If needed, splash in 1–2 tablespoons water and cover briefly to steam.

5. Combine & Glaze

  • Return sausage and shrimp to the skillet.

  • Toss everything together over medium heat for 1–2 minutes.

  • Add lemon juice or white wine (optional) to deglaze the pan.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning. Add chili flakes or a touch of honey if desired.

6. Finish & Serve

  • Remove from heat once shrimp are just cooked through.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley or chives.

  • Serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve as-is for a low-carb, high-protein meal

  • Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread

  • Great alongside a glass of dry white wine or sparkling water with lemon
