Classic French Toast
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

6 thick slices of brioche or sandwich bread

3 large eggs
-
1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
-
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
-
1 pinch of salt
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frying)
-
Maple syrup or caramel syrup (for serving)
Instructions

1. Prepare the Custard
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined and smooth.
2. Soak the Bread
Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture.
Let it soak for about 10–15 seconds per side, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid without becoming too soggy.
3. Heat the Pan
Place a large skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat.
Add butter and let it melt completely, coating the surface evenly.
4. Cook the French Toast
Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot pan.
Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside while soft inside.
Adjust heat if necessary to prevent burning.
5. Serve
Stack the French toast on a plate.
Drizzle generously with maple syrup or caramel syrup.
Serve warm.
