2 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
-
1 teaspoon dried oregano
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
For the Fries
-
1 kg (2 lbs) frozen or fresh-cut French fries
-
Salt to taste
-
1 tablespoon olive oil (if baking fresh fries)
For the Topping
-
1½ cups marinara sauce
-
1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Fries
-
Preheat oven according to fry package instructions (usually 220°C / 425°F).
-
Spread fries evenly on a baking sheet in a single layer.
-
Bake until golden and crispy, about 20–25 minutes.
-
Lightly season with salt once cooked.
For extra crispiness, avoid overcrowding the tray.
Step 2: Make the Italian Meatballs
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
-
Mix gently until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.
-
Roll into small bite-sized meatballs.
-
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Cook meatballs for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and fully cooked (internal temperature 75°C / 165°F).
Alternatively, bake meatballs at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes.
Step 3: Warm the Marinara
-
In a small saucepan, heat marinara sauce over medium-low heat.
-
Add cooked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes to absorb flavor.
Step 4: Assemble the Dish
-
Arrange hot fries on a large oven-safe platter or baking dish.
-
Spoon meatballs and marinara evenly over the fries.
-
Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan generously on top.
-
Place under broiler for 2–4 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
-
Remove from oven and let rest for 2–3 minutes.
-
Garnish with chopped basil or parsley.
-
Serve immediately while cheese is hot and stretchy.
Serving Suggestions
-
Add red pepper flakes for extra heat.
-
Serve with garlic aioli or extra marinara for dipping.
-
Pair with a crisp green salad to balance richness.
Tips
-
Use freshly grated mozzarella for better melting texture.
-
Make meatballs smaller for easier layering over fries.
-
If desired, add sautéed onions or peppers for extra flavor.
-
For a lighter option, use baked sweet potato fries.
Storage
-
Best enjoyed fresh.
-
Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
-
Reheat in oven at 180°C (350°F) to restore crispness.
