Ingredients

For the Shrimp

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on)

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Spicy Garlic Aioli

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp sriracha (or more to taste)

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Pinch of salt

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

  • Lemon wedges

  • Extra Parmesan (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Aioli

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, sriracha, smoked paprika, and salt.

Cover and refrigerate while preparing the shrimp.

Step 2: Bread the Shrimp

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.

In three separate bowls, place:

  • Flour

  • Beaten eggs

  • A mixture of panko, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper

Coat each shrimp in flour, dip into the egg, then press firmly into the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.

Step 3: Fry the Shrimp

Heat about 2 inches (5 cm) of oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Transfer to a wire rack or paper towels to drain.

Tips

  • Use large or jumbo shrimp for the juiciest results.

  • Pat the shrimp completely dry before breading so the coating sticks well.

  • For an air fryer version, spray lightly with cooking oil and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture for extra heat.
