
Sautéed Mushroom and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Ingredients

2 cups broccoli florets

1½ cups mushrooms (button or shiitake), sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion or shallot, thinly sliced (optional)

1 tablespoon soy sauce or oyster sauce

½ teaspoon black pepper

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Chili flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions

Prepare the vegetables
Wash the broccoli and cut it into bite-sized florets. Slice the mushrooms evenly so they cook at the same rate. -
Blanch the broccoli (optional but recommended)
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli and blanch for 1–2 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside. This helps keep the broccoli tender-crisp. -
Sauté aromatics
Heat olive oil or butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion (if using) and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and slightly translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for 20–30 seconds. -
Cook the mushrooms
Add the mushrooms to the pan. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they release their moisture and turn golden brown. -
Add the broccoli
Toss in the blanched broccoli. Stir well to combine with the mushrooms and garlic. -
Season the dish
Add soy sauce (or oyster sauce), black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes until everything is well coated and heated through. -
Finish and serve
Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle chili flakes if desired. Remove from heat and serve hot.
