🥐 Puff Pastry & Minced Meat Pockets

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade), thawed

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 250g minced meat (beef, chicken, or lamb)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ cup grated cheese (mozzarella or cheddar work great)

  • 1 small bunch of parsley, finely chopped

  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped

  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  3. Add the minced meat and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and dried basil. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  4. Once cooked, remove from heat. Mix in the chopped parsley, boiled eggs, and grated cheese. Let the filling cool slightly.

  5. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into equal squares or rectangles (about 10x10 cm or 4x4 inches).

  6. Place 1–2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry square.

  7. Fold over to form triangles or rectangles. Press the edges with a fork to seal.

  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk for a golden finish.

  9. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

💡Tips:

  • Add a bit of chili flakes or cumin to spice it up.

  • Serve with a dipping sauce like garlic yogurt or tomato salsa.

  • These are great for meal prep — they reheat well!
