Korean BBQ Steak Bowls with Creamy Sauce

Ingredients
For the Korean BBQ Steak
-
1 lb (450 g) flank steak or ribeye, thinly sliced
-
3 tablespoons soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
2 tablespoons sesame oil
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1 tablespoon gochujang (optional, for heat)
-
1 teaspoon cornstarch
For the Creamy Sauce
-
1/2 cup mayonnaise
-
1–2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to taste)
-
1 tablespoon honey or sugar
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil
-
1 tablespoon lime juice or rice vinegar
For the Bowls
-
3–4 cups cooked white or brown rice
-
1 cup shredded carrots
-
1 cup sliced cucumber
-
1 cup sautéed or steamed broccoli
-
1/2 cup kimchi (optional)
-
Sliced green onions (for garnish)
-
Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions
1. Marinate the Steak
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, gochujang (if using), and cornstarch.
Add the sliced steak and toss until well coated. Marinate for 20–30 minutes for best flavor.
2. Make the Creamy Sauce
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, sesame oil, and lime juice until smooth.
Taste and adjust sweetness or heat as needed. Refrigerate until ready to use.
3. Cook the Steak
Heat a large skillet or grill pan over high heat.
Add the marinated steak in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until caramelized and cooked through.
Avoid overcrowding the pan - cook in batches if necessary.
4. Assemble the Bowls
Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls.
Top with Korean BBQ steak, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, and kimchi if using.
Drizzle generously with creamy sauce.
5. Garnish and Serve
Finish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately while warm.
Tips
-
Slice the steak against the grain for maximum tenderness.
-
Swap rice for cauliflower rice or noodles if preferred.
-
Add a fried egg on top for extra richness.
Savory, sweet, and slightly spicy, these Korean BBQ steak bowls with creamy sauce are a perfect balance of bold flavors and comforting
textures - ideal for a satisfying weeknight meal or meal prep favorite.
