Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of rice

  • 50 ml of vegetable oil

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 1 onion

  • 300g of meat (can be beef or pork)

  • 1 carrot

  • 2 cloves of garlic (for the sauce)

  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste

  • A handful of green beans

  • 1 bell pepper (red or green)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Boiling water


Preparation

Cooking the rice:

  1. Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear.

  2. In a pot, heat 40 ml of vegetable oil over medium heat and lightly sauté the rice, stirring constantly.

  3. Add enough boiling water to cover the rice (about 2 cups), and add 2 teaspoons of salt.

  4. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, or until the rice is done and the water has evaporated.


Preparing the sauce base:

  1. Finely chop the onion, garlic, and carrot.

  2. In a large pan, heat the remaining 50 ml of oil and sauté the onions until golden.

  3. Add the chopped garlic and grated carrot. Cook for 2–3 minutes.


Cooking the meat:

  1. Cut the meat into small chunks and add it to the pan. Cook until the meat is browned on the outside.

  2. Add the tomato paste and mix well.


Adding vegetables and water:

  1. Add chopped green beans and julienned bell pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Add a bit of boiling water (about 1 cup) and cook everything together over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.


To serve:

Spoon the rice onto a plate and pour the meat and vegetable sauce over the top.


Tips:

  • For a bolder flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin powder or sweet chili powder to the sauce while cooking.
