HOMEMADE SKILLET PIZZA πŸ˜‹

 

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast (or baking powder if you don't have yeast)

For the Toppings:

  • Tomato sauce (to taste)

  • 150g shredded or sliced mozzarella cheese

  • 100g thinly sliced Calabrese sausage

  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced

  • Dried oregano (to taste)


Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.

  2. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.

  3. Add the olive oil and knead for 5–7 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic.

  4. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes (skip this step if you used baking powder instead of yeast).

  5. Once rested, roll out the dough with a rolling pin or use your hands to shape it to the size of your skillet.

  6. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil to prevent sticking.

  7. Place the dough in the hot skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes over medium heat, until the bottom is golden.

  8. Carefully flip the dough and lower the heat slightly.

  9. Spread tomato sauce over the cooked surface of the dough.

  10. Evenly add mozzarella cheese, then top with the Calabrese sausage slices and onion.

  11. Sprinkle some oregano on top.

  12. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for another 5–7 minutes over low heat, until the cheese is melted and the toppings are cooked through.

  13. Once the cheese is nicely melted and the crust is fully cooked, remove the pizza from the heat.
