Pan-Seared Fish with Creamy Garlic Shrimp Sauce
Ingredients (Serves 2)
Fish:
2 white fish fillets (cod, halibut, or sea bass)
Salt & black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
Shrimp:
200 g shrimp (peeled & deveined)
Salt & pepper
Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1/2 tsp paprika
120 ml heavy cream
50 ml chicken or seafood stock
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp parmesan (optional)
Garnish:
Fresh herbs (parsley or dill)
Instructions
1. Cook the fish
Pat fish dry and season with salt & pepper
Heat olive oil in a pan
Sear fish
3–4 minutes per side
until golden
Add butter and baste briefly
Remove and set aside
2. Cook the shrimp
In the same pan, add a bit of butter
Add shrimp, season lightly
Cook
1–2 minutes per side
Remove and set aside
3. Make the sauce
Melt butter in the pan
Add garlic → sauté until fragrant
Add paprika, then pour in stock
Stir in cream
Simmer until slightly thickened
Add lemon juice and parmesan (optional)
4. Combine
Return shrimp to the sauce
Spoon sauce over fish
5. Serve
Plate fish
Top with shrimp and sauce
Garnish with herbs
Tips for Best Results
Don’t overcook fish → keep it flaky & moist
Shrimp cooks fast → watch closely
Use high heat for a golden crust
Balance cream with lemon for freshness
