Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 3 Β½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 large egg
  • ΒΌ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Blueberry Filling

  • 1 Β½ cups fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 100g (3.5 oz) cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • Β½ tsp vanilla extract

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft, elastic dough forms (about 8–10 minutes).
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Blueberry Filling

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook for 5–7 minutes until thick and jam-like.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let cool completely.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling

  • Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Roll & Fill

  1. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 30x40 cm / 12x16 inches).
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
  3. Spoon the blueberry filling on top and gently spread.

Step 5: Shape the Rolls

  1. Roll the dough tightly into a log from the long side.
  2. Slice into 9–12 equal rolls.
  3. Place in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each roll.
  4. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.

Step 6: Bake

  • Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown on top.

Step 7: Make the Frosting

  • Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and spreadable.

Step 8: Finish

  1. Spread frosting over warm rolls.
  2. Top with extra blueberries and dust with powdered sugar for that bakery look.
