Savory Sausage, Olive & Cheese Cake (French-Style “Cake Salé”)

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
- 200 g all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 100 ml milk
- 100 ml olive oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Filling:
- 150 g sausage or chorizo (cubed or sliced)
- 100 g cheese (gruyère, cheddar, or mozzarella), diced
- 100 g green olives (pitted, sliced)
Optional:
- 2 tbsp chopped chives or parsley
- Cherry tomatoes (for topping)
Instructions

1. Prepare the batter
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and olive oil
- Add flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper
- Mix until smooth
2. Add the filling
- Fold in sausage, cheese, and olives
- Add herbs if using
- Mix gently to distribute evenly
3. Bake
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan
- Add cherry tomatoes on top if desired
- Bake for 40–45 minutes
- Insert a toothpick → should come out clean
4. Cool and serve
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature
