My Broke Ex Didn't Believe My Daily Drive Was a $30 Million One-of-One
Chapter 2
Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, the doors of the black SUVs opened simultaneously. Harrison, the legendary Chief Operating Officer of Cross Dynamics, stepped out alongside six senior board directors dressed in formal black-tie attire.
Hector, realizing who had just arrived, scrambled forward in a panic, bowing repeatedly. "Mr. Harrison! Welcome, sir! It is an absolute honor to host Cross Dynamics tonight—"
Harrison brushed past Hector as if the valet manager were made of thin air, marching with absolute, razor-sharp purpose toward the young woman standing in a coffee-stained tank top and dusty leather jacket.
To the paralyzing, utter horror of Julian, Giselle, and Hector, Harrison and the entire board of directors stopped two paces in front of Seraphina and bowed ninety degrees from the waist.
"My deepest apologies for the brief delay, Chairwoman Cross," Harrison said, his crisp voice carrying effortlessly across the silent driveway. An operative immediately stepped forward, presenting a floor-length white cashmere coat and a warm, scented towel. "Your custom one-of-one Hypercar has been delivered directly from the private track. All acquisition papers and corporate deeds are ready for your signature."
The silence on the street was suffocating.
Hector froze in mid-bow, every single drop of color draining from his face until he looked like a corpse. His hands shook so violently that his leather valet clipboard slipped from his fingers, crashing noisily onto the wet pavement. "C-Chairwoman... Cross?"
Giselle stumbled backward in her high heels, dropping her phone onto the asphalt as she stared at Seraphina in pure terror. The simple clothes, the scuffed boots, the casual ponytail—it wasn't the appearance of a broke garage worker. It was the untouchable, effortless confidence of the billionaire titan who controlled the world's most advanced engineering empire.
Julian’s face turned ghastly pale. Cold sweat drenched his velvet blazer. Before he could utter a single word, his smartphone blared violently on speaker in his pocket. He pulled it out with trembling, numb fingers. The caller ID showed his father's name—the CEO of Drake Financial.
Julian answered on speaker with a cracking, panicked voice. "D-Dad?"
"Julian, you brainless, arrogant idiot, what did you just do?!" his father screamed hysterically over the line, his voice echoing across the silent street. "Cross Dynamics just revoked our investment license, pulled their eight-hundred-million-dollar liquidity fund, and initiated a massive short on our stock! Our firm is in complete collapse! We are bankrupt, Julian! We are ruined!"
The call disconnected with a sharp beep. Julian stared at the black screen, his knees giving out beneath him as he collapsed onto the wet pavement—landing right on top of the three hundred dollars he had slapped against Seraphina's chest moments earlier.
Seraphina casually wiped the coffee stain from her collar with the warm towel, then draped the white cashmere coat over her shoulders, concealing the wet fabric completely.
She turned her cold, piercing hazel eyes toward the three pale, trembling figures, a faint, dangerous smile playing on her lips as she stepped gracefully toward the open butterfly door of her thirty-million-dollar hypercar.
"Now," Seraphina said softly, her quiet voice cutting through the dead silence like a blade. "Let's discuss who really doesn't belong in my driveway."
Hector dropped straight onto his knees on the damp pavement, tears smearing his face as his hands reached out desperately toward the hem of Seraphina’s white cashmere coat.
"Chairwoman Cross! Please! I beg for your forgiveness!" Hector sobbed, his voice echoing pathetically across the silent driveway. "I didn't know it was your car! If I had known who you were—"
"That is your fatal flaw, Hector," Seraphina interrupted, her voice smooth, calm, and cold as ice. "You show basic human decency only when you see a luxury label or a massive price tag. Dignity shouldn't depend on what someone wears. Harrison, terminate his employment effective immediately and ensure his name is blacklisted across every VIP venue, hotel, and luxury establishment in the city."
"No! Please! Chairwoman Cross!" Hector wept as two burly security operatives seized him under his arms and hauled him away into the night, his frantic cries dying out on the street.
The driveway fell dead silent once more. Seraphina turned her cold hazel gaze toward Julian, who was shaking uncontrollably on the ground, crawling toward her on his hands and knees amidst his shattered pride.
"Seraphina... please!" Julian stammered, his hands clasped together in a desperate plea. "Look at me! It was a mistake! A horrible misunderstanding! Remember college? Remember how much we loved each other? Please don't destroy my father's life's work!"
Seraphina looked down at him with quiet, absolute detachment.
"In college, Julian, I drove a beat-up car and wore simple clothes because I wanted to see if you cared about me, or my family's wealth," Seraphina said, her words cutting through the damp air like glass. "You threw me away the moment you thought I was poor. Today, my daily drive is worth more than your family ever possessed."
She looked up at Harrison. "Proceed with the complete debt foreclosure on Drake Financial. Leave nothing behind."
"Understood, Chairwoman," Harrison replied with crisp, military efficiency.
Hearing her ticket to wealth evaporate in real time, Giselle instantly took three steps away from Julian, her face contorting into pure hatred and disgust. "You pathetic, worthless loser! You destroyed your whole family's legacy in five minutes! Don't you ever come near me again!"
Spinning around, Giselle adjusted her dress, forced a sweet, desperate smile, and took a delicate step toward Seraphina. She pressed a hand to her chest, her voice dropping into a soft, breathy purr.
"Chairwoman Cross... I was completely tricked by him. I had no idea he was such a monster. I've always admired brilliant, powerful women like you... perhaps I could buy you a drink to apologize?"
Seraphina didn't even glance in her direction. "Harrison, clear this trash off my driveway."
Two operatives immediately flanked Giselle, seizing her arms and dragging her away as she shrieked in outrage. Julian remained slumped on the pavement, weeping helplessly surrounded by his scattered three hundred dollars.
Seraphina turned her back on the ruined heir and walked toward a young nineteen-year-old valet intern named Leo, who had been standing quietly in the corner holding the velvet rope with utmost respect throughout the entire confrontation.
"Leo," Seraphina said gently, a warm smile breaking through her cold demeanor.
"Y-Yes, Chairwoman Cross?" the young man stammered nervously, standing up straight.
Seraphina pulled a sleek black metallic VIP card from her leather jacket and placed it firmly into his trembling palm.
"You were the only one who didn't sneer or look down on me when I walked up today," Seraphina said softly. "As of tonight, you are the new Chief Valet Director for The Velvet Lounge. You will receive a full executive salary package and a company car."
Leo stared down at the black card, tears of disbelief and gratitude welling in his eyes. "Chairwoman Cross... thank you! I promise I will never let you down!"
"I know you won't," Seraphina replied, gently patting his shoulder. "Always remember this day, Leo. Treat the person in the scuffed jacket with the exact same respect as the person in the velvet blazer."
Seraphina stepped into the cockpit of her $30 million hypercar. The carbon-fiber butterfly doors glided smoothly downward, sealing the cabin with a seamless hiss.
She pressed the engine start button. The custom V12 powertrain roared to life with a deafening, magnificent rumble, lighting up the Manhattan street in brilliant neon blue. With a flick of her wrist, Seraphina accelerated smoothly into the night, leaving behind the ruined lives of those who had mistaken her humility for weakness.
