
Steak with Mushroom Sauce and Mashed Potatoes

200 g (7 oz) fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced

1 cup heavy cream (or cooking cream)

1/2 onion, finely chopped

1 garlic clove, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

A pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, adds depth)

4 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled until soft

2 tablespoons butter
-
1/2 cup hot milk (adjust for creaminess)

Salt to taste

β 1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:

Once the potatoes are tender, drain and mash them using a potato masher or fork.

Add the butter and hot milk gradually while mixing to achieve a smooth consistency.

Season with salt to taste. Cover to keep warm.
β 2. Cook the Steak:

Season the steaks on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and butter.

Once hot, sear the steaks for 3–4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.

Remove from the pan and let them rest while you prepare the sauce.
