Ingredients

For the Vegetables

  • 4 cups broccoli florets

  • 10 oz (300 g) cremini or button mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

  • 2–3 red chili peppers, thinly sliced

  • 2 green onions, sliced

For the Stir-Fry Sauce

  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp water

For Garnish

  • Toasted sesame seeds

  • Sliced green onions

  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

  • Extra sliced red chilies

Step 1 – Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together:

  • Soy sauce

  • Oyster sauce

  • Hoisin sauce

  • Rice vinegar

  • Honey

  • Sesame oil

  • Red pepper flakes

  • Cornstarch

  • Water

Set aside.

Step 2 – Blanch the Broccoli

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.

  2. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2 minutes.

  3. Transfer immediately to an ice bath.

  4. Drain thoroughly.

  3. Toss continuously for 2–3 minutes until the vegetables are evenly coated and the sauce thickens.

  4. Stir in the green onions.

Step 6 – Serve

  1. Transfer to a serving bowl.

  2. Garnish with:

    • Toasted sesame seeds

    • Extra green onions

    • Fresh cilantro

    • Additional sliced chilies if desired
