The ambient lighting inside Maison de Vance, the flagship haute couture boutique on Fifth Avenue, reflected softly off polished brass accents, pristine white marble, and hand-woven silk carpets. The store was closed to the general public for an exclusive, private preview of the season's pinnacle piece: the Aura, a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted crocodile-leather handbag trimmed with 18-karat gold hardware, valued at $80,000.

Julian, a 35-year-old visionary designer and the sole founder and owner of the fashion house, stood near the central display velvet pillar. Wearing a simple black turtleneck, tailored trousers, and minimalist leather shoes, Julian looked entirely relaxed as he adjusted the placement of the Aura under the museum-grade spotlight.

He had reserved the private showroom for an hour to inspect the final assembly before the evening’s high-profile charity auction and VIP gala.

Suddenly, the boutique’s heavy glass doors burst open, bypassing the security velvet rope outside.

"I don't care if the sign says 'Closed,' Lucas!" a shrill, piercing voice echoed across the quiet salon. "My social media followers are waiting for an unboxing, and I am not coming back tomorrow!"

A woman named Karen swept into the room, draped in an over-the-top faux-fur coat, oversized sunglasses, and thick gold bangles that clanked loudly against her wrists. Behind her shuffled a terrified junior sales associate, desperately holding three heavy shopping bags.

"Ma'am, please!" the associate stammered, sweating nervously. "This area is strictly restricted for a private walkthrough—"

"Shut up, Lucas!" Karen snapped, dismissively waving her manicured hand. Her gaze locked straight onto the glowing Aura handbag resting on the velvet pillar. Her eyes widened with instant greed.

She marched directly across the marble floor, her high heels clicking like gunfire, and stopped inches from Julian. Without acknowledging his presence, she lunged forward and snatched the $80,000 one-of-a-kind handbag right off its display pedestal.

"Hey! You!" Karen barked, running her acrylic nails over the delicate crocodile skin while glancing at Julian with utter disdain. "Whatever stock boy or cleaning job you're doing, move out of my frame. I need to take a quick selfie with this bag before I decide if I want to buy it."

Julian slowly crossed his arms, looking at her with a calm, unbothered expression. "Excuse me, ma'am. This showroom is closed, and that bag is not for sale or handling. Put it back on the pedestal."

Karen let out a loud, scoffing laugh that echoed off the glass walls. "Put it back?! Listen to me, you low-tier retail clerk! My husband is a top-tier VIP client here! I spend more money on accessories in a month than you make in a decade. I am not taking orders from a peasant in a plain black shirt. Move aside before I have you fired on the spot!"

Julian stood his ground, pointing calmly toward the digital security plate mounted beside the velvet display pillar.

"Ma'am, your husband's status doesn't grant you permission to trespass into a private session or handle a prototype," Julian said, his voice dropping into a firm, unyielding tone. "That bag is the only Aura in existence, crafted by hand over six months. Place it back on the pedestal and exit the showroom immediately."

Karen’s face flushed a blotchy, furious crimson. Her lip curled into a snear as she took an aggressive step into Julian's personal space, clutching the $80,000 handbag under her arm like a cheap grocery tote.

"How dare a low-class retail worker speak to me like that?!" Karen screamed, her grating, ear-splitting voice shattering the quiet luxury of the boutique. "I am an elite luxury influencer with millions of followers! A single tag from me could make or break your pathetic little career! I don't care about your stupid prototype or your fake rules!"

In a fit of blind, unhinged rage, Karen grabbed a half-filled glass of red wine resting on a nearby marble side table.

Before Julian could react, she splashed the dark wine directly over the Aura handbag and Julian’s chest, deliberately dousing the ultra-rare leather and gold hardware in deep crimson stains.

SPLASH!

"Now look what you made me do, you idiot!" Karen shrieked, deliberately tossing the stained $80,000 bag onto the hard floor, scratching its gold hardware against the stone.

The junior sales associate gasped, clutching his head in utter horror, while Karen’s eyes widened with manic triumph. But the instant she realized the sheer scale of the destruction, her aggressive posture dissolved into a calculated, theatrical performance.

Karen knocked over a brass floor lamp, threw both hands over her face, and began shrieking at the top of her lungs, her shrill wails echoing out toward the street.
