Creamy Lemon Parmesan Chicken – Golden Chicken in a Bright Lemon Parmesan Cream Sauce
Creamy Lemon Parmesan Chicken combines a golden seared chicken crust with a smooth, glossy cream sauce. When the chicken is seared properly, the surface caramelizes lightly while the interior remains tender.
The sauce is built with garlic, cream, parmesan, and fresh lemon juice. As it simmers gently, the cream thickens into a silky texture that coats the chicken evenly.
The brightness of lemon balances the richness of parmesan and cream, creating a dish that feels both comforting and fresh.
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
2 large chicken breasts, sliced into cutlets
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
For the lemon parmesan sauce
2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
½ teaspoon black pepper
Fresh parsley, chopped
Step-by-step cooking
Step 1 – Prepare the chicken
Pat the chicken cutlets completely dry using paper towels. Season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Step 2 – Heat the skillet
Place a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering.
Step 3 – Sear the chicken
Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 4–5 minutes on the first side until a golden crust forms.
Step 4 – Flip and finish cooking
Turn the chicken and cook the second side for another 3–4 minutes until fully cooked. Transfer the chicken to a plate.
Step 5 – Build the garlic butter base
In the same skillet, melt butter and add minced garlic. Cook for about 20 seconds until fragrant.
Step 6 – Create the cream sauce
Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 3 minutes.
Step 7 – Add parmesan and lemon
Stir in grated parmesan cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest, and black pepper. Continue simmering until the sauce becomes smooth and slightly thickened.
Step 8 – Return the chicken
Place the chicken back into the skillet and spoon the sauce over each piece.
Step 9 – Simmer briefly
Allow the chicken to simmer in the sauce for another 2 minutes so the flavors combine.
Step 10 – Garnish and serve
Sprinkle chopped parsley over the chicken and serve while the sauce remains glossy.
Pro tips
Do not overcook chicken to keep it tender.
Fresh lemon juice provides better flavor than bottled juice.
